Mercedes V. Portillo

Mercedes V. Portillo, 81, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Born in El Paso, Texas to Amador Vasquez and Consuelo Bencomo on February 21, 1935. She leaves to cherish her memory her sons: Antonio Jr. (Sonia) and Louie (Cristina) Portillo; daughter, Belinda (Ricardo) Portillo; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Also left to cherish her memory are her brothers: Jose Luis Vasquez, Gilberto and Ruben Vasquez; sisters: Rachael Rosado and Irene Ebert. Visitation will be held from 4:00-9:00 p.m., with a Vigil/Rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home East, 750 N. Carolina Dr. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, 1700 George Dieter Dr. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
