Michael O. Collins Sr., 67, was born November 6, 1945 to the late Mae E. and Wesley B. Collins. He was preceded in death by his only brother, Wesley B. Collins, Jr. Michael departed this life on Thursday, May 16, 2013 after a long illness. Michael attended school in Washington D. C., and graduated from Chamberlain High School. After high school in 1964 Michael entered the United States Army and retired as a First Sergeant E-8 in 1988 after serving 24 years. Following his retirement from the service, Michael was employed by the Research, Analysis, and Maintenance (RAM) Company until 2008 when he became ill. To cherish precious memories of his vibrant life and personality, Mike leaves his loving wife, Dianne; his sons Michael and Ronald (Veronica); grandchildren, Jessica, Jaiden, Jazlyn and Aleah Collins, his uncle Oswald Garner (Freddie); cousins, Rene, Rhonda, Rozanne (Gregory), Rita (Robert), George, Doris and Lawrence; God-sister Sandra Pleasants (Lawrence); God-son, Lamar Howard, many devoted relatives and other wonderful friends and especially his friends and caretakers at the Ambrosio Guillian Texas State Veterans Home. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2013, from 5:00 – 9:00pm at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00am, Friday, May 24, 2013 at the 1stAD Chapel, 11272 Biggs St., East Bliss (Biggs Field).
