Michael Mata

Michael Mata, of El Paso, TX passed away on April 11, 2014 at the age of 57. He reunites with his mother Mariana Mata and father Marcelo Mata. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1977 where he met his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 34 years, Sally Mata. His children left to cherish his memory are Michael Lee Mata, Jessica Estrada (Javier), Fernando Mata (Jennifer), Jennifer Arreola (Jesus), and Jackie Rosales (Mark). He was adored by his six grandchildren Aaron, Fernie Jr., Jacob, Mark, Alexis, and Julian with two more on the way. He also leaves behind his brothers and sisters, Paul Mata, Manny Mata, Rachel Valdez, Rene Mata and Edna Avila along with numerous brother and sister in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Michael was a well-known auto parts salesman for O’Reilly’s Auto Parts and sold auto parts for over 25 years. Michael was a proud member of the El Paso Wizards softball team for many years. He was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys, UTEP Miners, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Florida St. Seminoles. He cared about the many friends he had and did whatever he could to help out others in need, and in return was loved by both his family and friends. He will be missed by all and will forever be in our hearts until we meet again. He will be our angel from up above. Visitation will be from 4-9 pm with a vigil at 6 pm Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home-East. Funeral Service will be at 11:30 am Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home-East with interment at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
