A Beloved Daughter, Sister, Mother
Michele Rose Ortega, a resident of Sierra Blanca, Texas, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2026, in Socorro, Texas, at the age of 65.
Born on July 26, 1960, in Fabens, Texas, Michele was the beloved daughter of Lydia Rose Ortega and Manuel C. Ortega. She was a devoted mother to her only daughter, Jesslynn Olivia Rose Ortega, whom she shared with Adolfo Gallegos.
Michele had a deep love for history, writing, and preserving the heritage of her community. She was a dedicated member of the Hudspeth County Historical Society for nearly 20 years and contributed research and writing to Pancho Villa Days at Pilares by Joyce E. Means. Her passion for local history helped preserve the stories and traditions of the region for future generations.
A faithful Catholic, Michele was a devoted member of Our Lady of Miracles Catholic Church. Her faith was an important part of her life and guided her with compassion, kindness, and strength.
Michele was preceded in death by her parents, Lydia Rose Ortega and Manuel C. Ortega; her brother, Juan Manuel Ortega; and her nephew, Patrick V. Ibanez.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Jesslynn Olivia Rose Ortega; her sisters, Barbara Rose Ibanez of Odessa, Texas, and Sylvia Elena Deardeuff and her husband, McKinley Deardeuff, of Sierra Blanca, Texas; her nephews, Oscar M. Ibanez and Juan M. Navarrette; her niece, Barbara Monique Ibanez Supnet-Hull; and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Victoria Ibanez, Jessica Ibanez, Gabriela Ibanez, David Supnet II, Maximo Supnet, and Patrick Ibanez II.
Michele will be remembered for her love of family, her dedication to preserving local history, her unwavering faith, and the kindness she extended to those who knew her. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
Our Lady of Miracles will hold a private viewing beginning at 9am followed by the rosary on July 8th at 10:30 am followed by a funeral Mass at 11:30 am. Burial will follow at the Sierra Blanca Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Juan M. Navarrette,Richard Rose II,Casi Salgado ,Lance Rose,Richard Rose III, Jeremy Gomez, Robert Gomez &Brett Rose. Honorary Pallbears will be McKinley Deardeuff, Oscar Ibanez, David Supnet II, Maximo Supnet, Patrick V. Ibanez II, Michael Rose, Justin Rose, Gary Rose, Gary Rose Jr., Bryan Rose, JC Gomez, Zack Ortega,Brandi Salgado , Arvin west, Manny Rivera ,Mac Marquez, Abel Ramirez, Russell Moore, Abel Ramirez, Tony Velasquez (ems), Aiden Velasquez (ems),Luis De la Hoz (ems), Sofia De la Hoz ( ems )
