Nancy Elizabeth Amen, born May 17, 1931, in Buffalo, New York, to Clifford L. Giles and Mary Elizabeth Wright, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, in El Paso, Texas, surrounded by her loving family.

Nancy married James H. Amen on September 17, 1950, in San Diego, California. They shared 62 wonderful years together before James’ passing in 2012. James served 28 years in the Air Force, and Nancy was his steadfast partner, together raising their five children: Jeanette, Linda, twins James Jr. and Janice, and the youngest, John.

She is survived by her children and their loving spouses, 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Nancy was known for her dedication to family and community. She volunteered for the Red Cross, providing family services. As a military wife, she supported her husband with unwavering love and strength throughout many moves and deployments, finally settling down in El Paso, Texas. Nancy and James were avid bowlers, loved fishing with their children and grandchildren, and was an active member of the TOPS Club.

She was known for her sentimental nature, saving everything from cards she received from loved ones to items she received after filling up her S&H green stamp booklet. One of her cherished keepsakes was a roll of toilet paper from her husband, given to her on their first anniversary in 1951.

The memorial service will be held at Fort Bliss National Cemetery -West Shelter, on March 10th at 11:00 am., followed by a gathering where family and friends can continue to share memories and celebrate Nancy’s life.
