Naomi Sommerville Powers

Naomi Sommerville Powers passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at the age of 97. She retired from the Gadsden Independent School District after many years of teaching. Later she and her husband started a Real Estate brokerage which they operated as a team for many years mainly in the Chaparral Park area of west El Paso. Together they witnessed much growth in the west side of El Paso. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph M. Powers. She is survived by her brother Richard Sommerville, nieces Jan Clarence and Brenda Parker, great- nephews Richard Clarence, Robert Clarence and great -niece Laura Vreeland. The family wishes to thank Hospice of El Paso, and also the loyal and loving caretakers, Evelyn Arteaga, Sukie Zuniga, Raquel Hernandez, Alex Zuniga, and Sally Cisneros who cared for her during her final years. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. at White Acres dining hall. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
