Norma Martha Kudiesy, a retired librarian with 34 years of service with the federal government, and resident of El Paso, Texas since 1964 passed away on June 5, 2018. She was born in Burlington, Vermont to Margaret Alafat and Jacob Kudiesy of Beirut, Lebanon. She is a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in El Paso and belonged to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Burlington. She graduated from the University of Vermont with a Bachelor Degree in Education and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Library Science from Texas Women’s University in Denton. She started her career with the federal government at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico; then transferred to Fort Bliss, and on to William Beaumont Army Medical Center (both in El Paso). She belonged to several organizations and held various offices in many of them: Catholic Daughters of America, Court Santa Barbara #2017; American Legion Auxiliary #58 in El Paso and #2 in Burlington; West Texas Salon #399 of the 8/40; Blessed Sacrament Rosary Altar Society; Border Regional Library Association; the Ninety-Nines, an International Women’s Pilot Group; and the Lebanese-American Women’s Club. She was active throughout her life and enjoyed her retirement. She is survived by Margaret Cordova (Bob); Carolyn Maggine (Rick); Melanie, Morgan, and Mackenzie Maggine of Texas; Portia Arthur of Vermont, and many other family members. A Gathering of Remembrance will be at 9 AM, with a Rosary at 10 AM, Friday, June 15, at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. The Funeral Mass will take place at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at 11 AM.
