Olga Ofelia Rodriguez Talavera quietly departed this life on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at 5:47 PM, at Center for Compassionate Care West, Hospice El Paso.
Olga was born in El Paso, TX, on July 21, 1921, to proud parents Margarita and Ovidio Rodriguez. She graduated from Bowie High School in 1941 and was employed as a supervisor at the EPWU for 27 years. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved and respected by many.
Olga enjoyed life by celebrating EVERY holiday with her loved ones. She adored creating elegant floral arrangements, crocheting, knitting, sewing, and working on ceramics. Olga opened her home to her loved ones, on a 24/7 basis, where she provided the best food ever prepared and more importantly, the emotional support needed. Her home was a safe haven.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Alfonso of 55 years, her beautiful daughter Blanca Varela, her loyal sister Avelina Arriola, and her brother Oscar Rodriguez. She is survived by her son David Talavera (Deborah), daughters Gloria Thummel († Dieter) and Sylvia Cookie T. Quinata, son-in-law Arturo Varela, 9 awesome grandchildren (Derek A. Quinata; Katherine Thummel-Hernandez and Michael Thummel; Jason Talavera and Amanda Salazar; Gilbert, Victor, David, and Steve Varela), 25 precious great grandchildren, and nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Her love will be forever cherished in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
