In Loving Memory of Oralia “Yaya” P. Marquez
Oralia “Yaya” Marquez was called home on March 24, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family.
She was born on October 10, 1936, in Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua, to Jose and Juana Perez. From an early age, Oralia carried a deep sense of family, faith, and resilience, values she lovingly passed on to each generation. Her love language was cooking. She served others with joy, preparing meals that nourished not only the body but also the soul. Her table was always open, a true reflection of the love and generosity God placed in her heart.
She is now reunited in eternal rest with her parents and her brothers, Francisco Javier Perez, Alberto Perez, and Hugo Perez. Oralia is survived by her brother, Jose Luis Perez (M. Isabel).
She leaves behind her beloved children: Jose Marquez (Susana), Martha Losoya (Armando), Elvia Ramirez (Julian), and Rosalia (Gustavo). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Vivian (Gordy), DiAnna (Joshua), Edgar (Melissa), Valerie (Craig), Jasmin, Gaby, Cassandra (Jonathan), Josue (Briana), Christian, Brianna, Alyssa, and Isaiah, and a cherished great-grandmother to nine. Each of them carries a piece of her love, her strength, and her spirit.
Oralia was the heart of her family. As a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she gave of herself endlessly, always placing her loved ones before anything else. Oralia dedicated many years of her life to the Ysleta Independent School District, where she worked as a cook at Hanks High School until her retirement in 2003. She took great pride in her work and in serving others. In her later years, she found her greatest joy at home, watching her grandchildren grow, going on shopping trips, dining out, and enjoying her simple favorites: Whataburger, Dr Pepper, and Almond Joy.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Lourdes Aparicio and Nurse Claudia for the kindness, care, and compassion they showed Oralia.
