Patricia Ann Garoutte (Bone) (1935–2025)

Pat was born on January 29, 1935, in St. Louis, Missouri. She graduated from Albuquerque High School and worked as an operator for the American Bell Telephone Company. In 1953, she married Charles Theodore Garoutte, Jr. (Ted), and they owned and operated a variety of businesses, including a grocery store, a fishing resort, Port of Call Catering, and an Indian jewelry business. They raised their four children at Bluewater Lake, NM, where outdoor fun and shenanigans were always in order.

Pat was an avid supporter of her children's activities. She volunteered for 4-H clubs and was always their biggest fan in the audience. Pat was a charter member of the Uranium Capital Bi-County Fair in Prewitt, NM.

After her children were grown, Pat started her own catering company, Pat’s Port of Call, providing food service and gifts for the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad.

In 2001, she married Warren Hemphill and lived in Yuma, Arizona, until 2021. Pat was known for her love of dancing and her great group of friends.

Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Bone, Opal Nixon, her husband, Warren Hemphill, and her brother, Joe Bone. She is survived by her children: Aaron Garoutte (Gay), Kim Miller (Gary), Heidi Brislin (John), Travis Garoutte (Amy), her 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
