Paul Roberts age 78, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 in El Paso, Texas. Paul passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
Paul was born in Harvard, Massachusetts from an ancestorial lineage dating back to early New England settlers in the 1600s. Paul came from a long line of family that served their country, and, following in their footsteps, he served in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam veteran. After 20 years of service, he retired from the Navy. Serving in the Navy, Paul was able to see the world, including: Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Hong Kong, Pakistan, Italy, Norway, Sweden, France, Iceland and many more.
He later worked for the Idaho Nuclear Laboratory and retired in 2009.
He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm and Barbara Roberts, and his daughter Ariella Capri Roberts.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Gayle R. Roberts, his children: William Nephi Dunlap (Donna), Wayne Aaron Dunlap (Toni), Heather Cherron Garner (Ammon), Bronwyn Hollie Roberts, and Myra Nichole Roberts, his siblings: Bronwyn Elizabeth Swope, John Roberts, Faye Winfrey, Diantha Pacheco, his grandchildren: Donyall Patricia Smith (Dustin), Michael MacKay Dunlap, MacKenna Paige Perez (Jacob), Don Cherron Garner, and Nathan True Garner, as well as his great-grandson: Wyatt Gabriel Smith. He is also survived by many extended friends and family who cherish and honor his memory.
Paul had many hobbies: Golf, hockey, HAM radio, fast cars (owned a 61 Plymouth Barracuda, 68’ Roadrunner, 71’ Mustang, and several motorcycles throughout his life), genealogy, building furniture, trains, tinkering on cars, reading, history, and making his family laugh with his dry sense of humor. He often said his only regret was not marrying Gayle sooner.
Paul was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and positively impacted numerous people through his service in the Church.
Pallbearers include: William Dunlap, Wayne Dunlap, Ammon Garner, Michael Dunlap, Nathan Garner, Dustin Smith, Jacob Perez, and Dennis Webb.
A Visitation will be held from 10:00am to 11:00am on Monday, June 30, 2025 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 670 E. Redd Rd El Paso, Texas, with a Funeral Service to commence at 11:00am. Graveside Service will follow at 1:00pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave El Paso, Texas.
