Pauline Mae Shaheen

Shaheen, Pauline was born to Salem Shaheen and Mary Haddad on May 8, 1922, and was married on November 8, 1953 to Saad Shaheen, Sr. of Arne, Syria, who was a successful carpet and rug salesman in El Paso, TX. Pauline was a devoted and loving wife of 46 years, raising the family and helping with the bookkeeping of Saad Sr’s business prior to his passing in 2000. She was a devout Orthodox Christian and was a long time member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church of El Paso and Canton, OH and most recently of St. Michael Orthodox Church of Louisville, KY. She had a heart overflowing with generosity and had an extraordinary knack for hosting clergy, friends and family during her married life in El Paso. Her culinary talents made a tremendous impact on many. She passed away peacefully into the Lord’s presence on Monday, August 24th at the age of 93. Survivors include a brother, John Shaheen, Sr. (Sally) of Canton, OH; her children, Saad Paul Shaheen II, M.D. (Kristen) of Crestwood, James Shaheen (Odette), El Paso, TX, Mary Mohler (Chuck), El Paso, TX, and Gus Salem Shaheen (Gabriela), Albuquerque, NM; 2 grandsons and 2 granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in Louisville, KY at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 26th at St. Michael Orthodox Church, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. at the church. Visitation in El Paso, TX will be held Friday, August 28, 2015 from 4:00-6:00 pm at Sunset Funral Homes-East, 750 N. Carolina Dr. Mausoleum Committal Service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Evergreen East Cemetery-Mausoleum in El Paso, TX.
