Pedro  Molina Natividad , 90, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022.

 

Pedro was born in Balmorhea, Tx on June 29, 1931.  As a child his family moved to Pecos, Tx, where at the young age of 15, he began to work as an aircraft assistant at the Air Base located in Pyote, Texas, now known as Rattlesnake Bomber Base.  He performed various tasks that would help keep the aircraft in safe flying condition for the pilots that were assigned to the training air base. 

 

Pedro would leave this job to Join the United States Army where he served for 24 years.  His army career began as an infantry soldier assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division completing his at Ft. Benning Georgia.  During his time in the army, he served in Germany, Panama, and Korea.  Pedro served two combat tours in Vietnam where he was awarded 4 Bronze Star Medals for acts of courage and valor under enemy fire.  Upon returning from Vietnam, Pedro retired from the army on January 31, 1973, as a Senior Army Instructor for the Army Air Defense Artillery School located at Ft. Bliss, Texas.  Pedro was also awarded the Army Commendation Medal, as well as numerous other service medals and commendations.  He retired at the rank of Sergeant First Class.

 

Pedro returned to Pecos, Texas after his retirement and worked at Duval, until his appointment to work for the Department of Defense as part of their Security Forces as an officer performing the duties of uniformed police.  He was assigned to the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, Texas from 1976-1977 then transferring to White Sands Missile Range where he worked until his retirement June 29, 1993.  Pedro dedicated 42 years of his life serving the United States of America. 

 

Pedro loved to find 1950’s cars and began to restore them with his son, once restored his love turned to giving family rides, talking about his cars, and guiding anyone who began this hobby.  Pedro’s love for his country and veterans was also clear after retirement, guiding new and old veterans through the process.  No matter where he ran into a veteran he would ask if they needed anything, but simply he just thanked them for their service and took a moment to talk to them. 

 

He was preceded in death by his wife Maria Natividad. He leaves behind his sons, and daughters, numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren. 

 

Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 8:00pm with a Rosary at 6:00pm on Tuesday May 10, 2022, at Sunset Funeral Home 4631 Hondo Pass Drive.  Funeral Mass will begin at 12:00pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church located at 2709 Alabama.   Committal Service to follow at 1:30pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors. (East Shelter)
