Rachael Grove Klein
August 17, 1930 – February 1, 2026
Rachael went to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, February 1, 2026. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Rachael is preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Minnie Grove, brother and sister-in-law, Gilbert and Peggy Grove and son-in-law and grandson, Jim and Patrick McVay. She is survived by her beloved husband of 73 ½ years, Raymond Klein and children, Karen McVay, Van Klein and Rachael Ann Klein (Chris Hopp). She is also leaving behind her grandchildren, Kelli Ponder (Tommy), Melissa Moran (Elliott), Eden, Sidnee and Andrew Klein and great grandchildren, Matthew and Macey Ponder and Rowan Moran and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Ray and Rachael met when he was stationed at Ft. Bliss and attended Redeemer Lutheran Church one Sunday where Rachael was the organist. From what we have been told, it was love at first sight. They married soon after and the rest is history. Rachael continued playing the organ for church until she was 80 years old.
She also loved gardening, sewing and maybe most of all – entertaining. Rachael was a wonderful hostess and shared their home with friends and family as often as possible. Rachael and Ray also traveled in their RV often. They would get on the road with family and friends whenever they had a chance. When Ray decided to start a business, Rachael was right there with him. They worked together at Stitches, inc. for over 40 years. They have truly been inseparable their whole married lives.
Most important of all, Rachael loved her Savior, Jesus Christ. In her final days she told her whole family repeatedly to live a holy life and follow Jesus.
A funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church at 3800 Hondo Pass Dr. on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Rachael’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church.
The family would like to thank Visiting Angels and El Paso Hospice for their care and kindness to Rachael and Ray during this most difficult time. And lastly, a special thank you to their neighbors, Chris and Dennis Worley for their continued friendship and support.
