Rafael J. Chavez

Rafael J. (Guero) Chavez has joined our Lord Jesus Christ by passing peacefully during the early hours of November 17, 2006. Guero was a devoted husband of over 50 years to Maria Clara Chavez. He was also survived by sons Ralph and wife Pat, Rick and daughter Cynthia. He is also a loving grandpa to Michael, Melissa, Charlie & Betty, Adam & Jessica, also a great grandpa to Penny, Chase, and Sierra. Rafael was a loving brother to Teresa and Armando Chavez, Margarita Marquez, Juan I. Chavez (US Army retired), and Rosa Emma Torres. Rafael was a veteran of the US Army and was also a postal service employee of 34 years (retired). Pall Bearers will be Sons Ralph and Rick Chavez, Grandsons Charlie and Adam Parker and Michael Meza also nephew Tom Shukitt. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Juan I. Chavez, Reynaldo Marquez, Armando Chavez, John Shukitt, Conrad Woods, Ike Camacho, Martin Luna and Eugene (Waldo) France Ware. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 with a vigil at 7:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home-East located at 750 N. Carolina Dr. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at St. Pius X Catholic Church located at 1050 N. Clark. Interment will be at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
