Ramon V. Armendariz

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our cherished Ramon V. Armendariz at the age of 84 on Sunday, January 1, 2023. Ramon was most lovingly known by his family as "Paca."

Ramon was born in Mesilla, New Mexico, in 1938 and moved to El Paso, Texas, where he graduated from Bowie High School in 1956. He joined the United States Marine Corps and honorably served from 1957 to 1960. Ramon relocated back to El Paso to marry his sweetheart, Elisa. They raised four children together and he worked in different career fields until retiring from civil service in 1997.

Ramon was as an ardent reader with a passion for history and devoured books at a rapid pace. He is remembered as a humorous troublemaker-- he never failed to crack a hilarious joke, no matter how inappropriate. Ramon was also a foot-tapping lover of music, with a particular fondness for jazz and doo-wop.

Ramon is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Elisa Armendariz; children, Diana (Armando), Barbara (Ruben), Ray Gabriel (James), and Anthony (Roxanne); grandchildren, Frank, Marissa, Zoë (Gus), Nicholas, Janessa, and Ava; great-grandchildren, Ethen, and Vincent; brother Reyes (Emma).

Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 PM, with Rosary at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Homes- Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Funeral Mass with begin at 11:30am and will take place on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 3729 Hueco Ave. Committal Service will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.  Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.  Please visit his online memorial at www.sunsetfuneralhomes.net.
