Raymond Lesly Niemira

Raymond Lesly Niemira died on the 29th of June 2015 in El Paso, Texas at the age of 74. He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on the 7th of December 1940 to Adam Olechowski and Kazimiera Niemira-Olechowski. Due to the unexpected death of his father in 1942, he was raised in a family of hard workers and began working at the age of ten until his retirement in 2001. He is survived by his wife, Margie, and brother-in-law, Gilbert Montes (Maria). Other survivors include numerous nieces and nephews including Ramon Montes III (Diana) and Zeinab Matlock (Leroy). He first came to El Paso in 1962 as an Army private and trained on the HAWK Missile System. When he left the Army in 1965, Ray began a career of work and travel that took him to many interesting countries of the world. He took a break in 1971 to attend UT El Paso and received a business degree (BBA) with a major in Marketing. It was during this time he met his future wife, best friend, and true love at UTEP, Margie. She became his dear wife in December 1972 and that has never changed. Together they traveled and worked in Iran, Germany, and Saudi Arabia. Ray also did short tours in Jordan and Taiwan. Although they were separated at times due to the nature of his work, they were always close. Ray finally settled in Huntsville, AL to work until retirement while Margie worked in California and Texas. In 2001, Ray returned to El Paso to enjoy retirement, but that was short lived when he went back to work in some short term jobs. Finally he decided to take up acting and worked in several local films and commercials, and enjoyed it immensely. Now all of that has come to an end. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the UTEP School of business Scholarship Fund. Memorial Service will be from 6:00pm to 9:00pm on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Funeral Mass will be given at 12:00PM on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at 1:30pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
