Robert A. Havercorn

November 3, 1934 — February 16, 2007

Robert A. Havercorn, SFC Ret. U.S. Army, 72 years of age, passed away on February 16, 2007. He was born in Superior, Arizona on November 3, 1934, the son of Annie Havercorn Anaya. He grew up in Superior, AZ where he graduated from Superior High School in 1954. He entered the U.S. Army as Nike Hercules Fire Control and Improved Hawk Firing Section Mechanic and served for 23 years, 3 months. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Commendation Medal and Meritorious Service Medal. He married Bertha Castro on November 17, 1956, and they raised five children. After his military career he retired and completed his Associates degree from El Paso Community College. He was very active in his church. He was 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, loved all types of cuisines, solving crossword puzzles, listening to all types of music, and proud grandfather to his 6 grandchildren. Robert was a true Samaritan and opened his heart and doors to all. He had a sense of humor especially in times of trials. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Bertha; his five children: Carmen C. Croas (Alaska), Cynthia L. Martinez (Arizona), Robert S. Havercorn (Texas), Edward W. Havercorn (Arizona), and Felicia K. Havercorn (Texas). He is survived by son-in-laws: John K. Croas, Anthony Martinez, and daughter-in-laws: Veronica and Irma Havercorn. Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 pm, Monday, February 19, 2007, at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Rosary/Vigil will be recited at 7:00 pm, Monday, February 19, 2007, at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Funeral Mass will be said at 12:30 pm, Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 10000 Pheasant Road. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with full military honors.
