In Loving Memory of Robert Savedra
March 21, 1933 – February 7, 2026
Robert Savedra, 92, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026. Born March 21, 1933, in Dallas, Texas, Robert lived a long, full life and did it HIS way, right down to the very end.
Robert was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan, and yes, he loved them even when they gave him reasons to cry! He proudly served in the United States Navy, and he spent many years as a machine repairman---because if it was broken, Robert could fix it…and if it wasn’t broken, he still probably had an opinion about how it should run. Later in life, he took those skills into education and retired from Ysleta Independent School District as a Business Machines Instructor, passing on his knowledge to the next generation.
Robert was known for being outgoing, tough, and completely no-nonsense—especially with his children, who were raised with tough love, high expectations, and the kind of “character building” you only appreciate years later. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed time on the course, and he loved playing poker with his friends—where he could talk a little trash, keep a straight face, and make sure everybody knew he was paying attention. Whether you knew him as Robert, Dad, Grandpa, or “that man right there,” you knew he had stories—and he usually told them with a look that said he wasn’t asking for permission.
When asked the secret to his long life, Robert had one simple answer: a daily shot of tequila. (Doctor’s orders? Not exactly. Robert’s orders? Always.)
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Angela (Castillo) Savedra, and his beloved daughter, Cynthia.
He is survived by his brother, Ernest Savedra; his sister, Virginia Perez (Tia Rosie); and his children: Agnes (Mario), Robert (June), Max (Sandy), Cathy (Les), David (Rosie), Michele, and Leslie (Rudy). He is also survived by 24 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
