Roberto Marquez, 65, was made a new angel of God and welcomed into the kingdom of Heaven on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 while surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Roberto was a lifelong El Paso resident. He was a graduate of Bel Air High School and served proudly in the U.S. Army from 1974-1978. He went on to have a long career in Civil Service at White Sands Missile Range until his retirement in 2005. During his tenure at White Sands, Roberto earned several awards for outstanding service, a true testament to his hard working ethic. He was an avid sports fan and loved his Dallas Cowboys. Roberto had an electric personality and made friends everywhere he went. His selfless and caring nature will be the legacy he leaves behind, as well as his adoring children who will miss him dearly.
Roberto is survived by his wife of 34 years, Emma; three children who affectionately referred to him as “My Father,” Jennifer, Paul and Reina; father, Severiano Marquez; siblings Elva Padilla (Luis), Jose Ernesto Marquez (Mary), Luis Marquez (Esther), Ramon Marquez, Paul Marquez (Sonia), and Irma Fernandez (Ruben). He is preceded in death by his mother Esther Marquez.
Visitation: 5pm-9pm with a Vigil/Rosary at 7:00pm Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Funeral Mass: 11:00am Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at St. Mark Catholic Church. Committal Service will follow at 1:00pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
