Rodolfo Gonzalez, 83, of El Paso, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Rodolfo was born in Plateros, Zacatecas, Mexico in May of 1942. At an early age, he moved with his mother and two brothers to Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, to be closer to the Frontera. It was there that he met his wife, Guadalupe Guerra. The two were married in 1968, beginning a partnership marked by love, sacrifice, and a deep commitment to family.
From a young age, Rodolfo was determined to create a better life for his family. At the age of 16, he learned the trade that would define his life—barbering. For 64 years, he dedicated himself to the craft, building not only a career but lifelong relationships with his clients and community.
In 1974, seeking better educational and life opportunities for his children, Rodolfo moved with Guadalupe and their sons Rudy and Alex to El Paso, Texas. Through hard work and perseverance, he eventually became a partner and owner of Vista Hills Barbershop, where he worked for over 30 years. Rodolfo was known for his skill, work ethic, and consistency—so much so that he served up to five generations from the same families. His barbershop was more than a place for a haircut; it was a place of connection, stories, and tradition.
Outside of work, Rodolfo treasured family. Sundays were tradition of providing in abundance for meals. He would cross into Juárez to shop for groceries, returning to host weekly family gatherings featuring his mother-in-law Amelia’s famous chile colorado and homemade tortillas—a cherished tradition that brought generations together around the table.
Rodolfo is preceded in death by his parents, Alejandro Gonzalez and Belen Escareño, and his brother, Teodoro Medina.
He is survived by his wife Guadalupe Gonzalez; his children, Rodolfo Gonzalez Jr. (Lisa Gonzalez), Alejandro Gonzalez (Anderea Gonzalez), Cecilia Ginithan (Ralph Ginithan); and his grandchildren, Alexander Gonzalez (Reilly Gonzalez), Emily Huntsman (James Huntsman), Brandon Ginithan, and Olivia & Lily Gonzalez.
A gathering will begin at 9:00 AM with a scripture service at 9:30 AM, Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home East, 750 N. Carolina and interment to follow at 11:00 AM at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Rodolfo's legacy of love, hard work, and dedication will live on in the hearts of those he touched. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
