Roman Gutierrez from Santa Rosalia de Cuevas, Chihuahua, Mexico, died on Monday at his home in El Paso, Texas, October 14, 2024, at age 91. He was surrounded by family & friends during the last weeks of his life. Roman was a hardworking man who worked as a carpenter in his adult life. He was a great husband, dad, and grandfather. He was a unique gentleman, a great friend, and loved by many. He dedicated himself to his family. He has been a member of Happiness Senior Center for thirty years. He was a BIG fan of the Dallas Cowboys, always asking his children what time the Cowboys were playing. He was loved and will be greatly missed. Roman is survived by his wife Victoria Gutierrez, children Lupita Meza, and Oscar Gutierrez, preceded in death by Tomas “Tommy” Gutierrez, and his parents Jesus Gutierrez & Tomasa Najera. He was the youngest of five siblings: Gerardo Gutierrez, Carmelo Gutierrez, Remedios Granados, Antonio Gutierrez, and Roman Gutierrez. Three grandchildren, Jon Jon Gutierrez, Nicholas Gutierrez, and Mikki Gutierrez, and one great grandchild. Step-grandchildren from Oscar – Jesenia Najera Bustamante, Kenny Rosales, Laban Rosales, and three step-grandchildren from Jesenia, and one step-grandchild from Tommy Gutierrez - Michael Acosta.
Visitation: 4-8 pm with Rosary at 6 pm, Monday, October 21st at Sunset Funeral Homes – East 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Mass: 10 am, Tuesday, October 22nd at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 7712 Rosedale. Graveside Service: following mass at 11:30 am at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Papi will be missed by many, but now he is with his parents, brothers, sister, and our brother Tommy.
