Ronald William Skowlund

Ronald William Skowlund, 80, passed away on April 19, 2016. He was born in Peshtigo, Wisconsin on April 16, 1936. After graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Army where he served proudly for 21 years. In 1963, he married the love of his life, Dorothy. They traveled the world until his military retirement in El Paso, Texas in 1976. After his military career, he continued to work until 2004. Ron loved to sing and followed his passion as a member of Mountain View Baptist Church choir for over 35 years. He also joined the El Paso Border Chorders and continued to sing with them up until his death. He loved his dogs, the Green Bay Packers and all things patriotic. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Dorothy. He is survived by his son Ron, Jr. (Mary) and daughter Lori (David). He leaves behind six grandchildren: Christopher, Lindsey, Andrew, Keaton, Nicholas and Ryland. He is also survived by his sisters Bonnie Michels and MaryAnn McCauly. A Committal Service will be held for Ron on Monday, April 25th at 10:00 a.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the ASPCA or Wounded Warrior Foundation. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
