Rosario R. Gorman

December 26, 1938 — March 22, 2016

Rose (Rosario) Gorman In loving memory, Rose passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2016. She was born December 26, 1938 in El Paso. She is preceded in death by husband Jim Gorman, parents Enrique and Paz Ramos, Brothers Henry and Raul Ramos and beloved Aunt Ana Ramos. Rose attended St. Mary’s School and was a proud 1956 graduate of Ysleta High School. As a kid, she worked in her Dad’s Grocery-“Ramos” market. Rose worked at White Sands Missile Range and was a counselor’s aide at Ft. Bliss before becoming a Realtor in 1981 with Century 21 Haggerty. Rose loved Northeast and was very active in her community. She served on the Mental Health/Mental Retardation Board, helped start The Northeast Concerned Citizens, helped found and served on the Juvenile Court Conference Committee, was an active member of both NE and East El Paso Kiwanis clubs. Rose served as P.T.A. President of Crosby School (from 1972-1974). She even served an “additional year” as P.T.A. President after her kids had already graduated, because they needed someone to serve. That’s the type of giver she was. She had the biggest heart. Rose was named “Northeast Person of the Year” in 1982! The most rewarding part of her life was as dedicated wife and devoted mother. From Brownie Troop Leader to Room Mother to advisor and counselor. She was always there for her kids. Rose considered them her greatest legacy. She was so proud of her kids. She taught them kindness, the importance of giving back and helping others. Mom you are our inspiration and hero. We love you and you will always be in our hearts. Thank you for everything! Rose is survived by children Michele (Richard) Nevins of El Paso, Michael (Wendy) Gorman of San Antonio, Jennifer (Ken) Wade of El Paso. Her grandchildren Jim Gorman, Taylor Gorman, Celina Wade and Jacob Wade. Her sister Lupe (Bob) Martinez, Brother Richard (Delores) Ramos, Sister-in-Law Nora Ramos, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers family requests donations made to Salvation Army or Humane Society of El Paso. A warm “Celebration of Mom’s Life” gathering will be held this Saturday, March 26th at Rose’s home (5508 Sanders), from 3-7 pm. We welcome family and friends to share stories and memories with us at that time We also encourage you to wear “Bright” colors and dress comfortable as that’s what Mom would’ve liked. See you there!
