Roscoe Summon Belvin, age 74, peacefully passed away on October 28, 2016. He was born in McGhee, Arkansas on October 1, 1942. Roscoe is preceded in death by his parents Jessie R. Belvin, Willie A. Johnson and precious granddaughter Ariah Calei Belvin. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Yong Belvin, son Raymond Belvin(Jamie) and daughter Shirley Belvin. Sisters Betty Rhodes, Gwen Cokley, Stephanie Turner, and brothers Chester Wright, Percy Beverly and grandchildren Cody Chiasson, Breken, Kalyn and Sienna Belvin.
Roscoe Belvin served 26 years in the United States Army, retiring as a Sergeant First Class on the first day of May 1989. He is a veteran of the Vietman era. He was awarded Rifle M16 expert Badge, Rifle M14 expert badge, the Mechanics badge with bar, army service ribbon, overseas service ribbon-6, NCO Professional development ribbon (# 2), Air Force outstanding unit award, national defense service medal, armed forces expeditionary medal, army good conduct medal(8th award), army achievement medal (2 OLC), army accommodation medal (2 OLC) and meritorious service medal. He was involved in the American Legion, and The Gospel Service at Fort Bliss men’s ministry.
I have fought the good fight I have finished the course I have kept the faith. In the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness which the LORD, the righteous Judge will award me on that day….. 2 Timothy 4:7 - 8.
Visitation will be held from 5:00~8:00 PM Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass El Paso, Texas 79904. Funeral Service will be held at 8:30 AM Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Committal Service to follow at 10:00 AM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with full military honors.
