Rose Marie Gonzalez

Rose Marie Gonzalez, 66, passed away on December 22, 2025.

Rose was born in El Paso, TX on June 17, 1959. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. She went on to become a surgical technician for a prominent El Paso eye doctor.

Rose loved to cook, bake, and was an avid reader. Known for her singing, she was a lead singer of a local band for several years. She was also known for her love of trivia. Rose loved spending time with her family.

Rose is survived by her daughter, former State Representative, Naomi R. Gonzalez. Her husband of over a decade James S. Chavez and beloved granddaughter, Madeline Rose Gonzalez.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 6:00 PM, Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Homes-East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 9, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3729 Hueco. Interment will follow at 11:30 AM at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 401 S. Zaragoza.
