Ruth P. Salinas

Ruth P. Salinas, 82, was welcomed into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 21, 2016. Ruth was born on December 9, 1933 in El Paso, Texas. She graduated from Bowie High School in 1951. She married another Bowie Bear, Arturo Salinas, on December 28, 1957 and together they raised three daughters. Ruth enjoyed gardening, baking, and sewing. She made the world’s best brownies! She made matching clothes for her daughters, several suits for her loving husband, and even the curtains in her home. Ruth loved listening and dancing to all kinds of music. She loved yellow roses, chocolate malts, and traveling to different states. She loved her family and had a special place in her heart for her two granddaughters. Ruth always said she wanted to give her children two things: one is roots, the other is wings. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Enedina and Rafael Peña; and by her sister, Norma. She leaves behind her loving husband of 58 1/2 years, Arturo Salinas; daughters: Norma Salinas, Leticia Alvarez, and Monica Salinas; son-in-law, Sam Vasquez, Fred Alvarez, and Marcel Pierel; two beautiful granddaughters: Kristine Noelle and Natalie Ruth; brother, Rafael Peña Jr., wife Cristina, and sons Ruben and Rudy. Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 9:00 pm; the Rosary will be at 7:00 pm on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home East at 750 N. Carolina Drive. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, June 27, 2016 at St. Raphael Catholic Church at 2301 Zanzibar. Interment will be at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
