El Paso

Samuel Levi Chavez, age 51, passed away on March 7, 2026. Born on March 30, 1974, in El Paso, Texas, Samuel spent his life in the community he loved and proudly called home.

Samuel was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to public service. Throughout his career, he served the community through his work with the County of El Paso, Texas, Roadrunner Transit, Sun Metro, and El Paso Disposal. He was respected by colleagues and friends alike for being dependable, hardworking, and committed to helping keep the city moving.

The county of El Paso has acknowledged his dedication and will be honoring his legacy by placing his name on the right-hand side of the grand pillar, before the entrance of the courthouse.

Beyond his career, Samuel had a deep passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He enjoyed the freedom of the open road and the camaraderie that came with the motorcycle community. When he wasn’t at work or spending time with his family, he could be found playing the guitar, playing video games, jamming out to his favorite band, Metallica, or watching comedy movies.

Those who knew Samuel will remember his strength, loyalty to his family, and the pride he took in providing for the people he loved.

He is preceded in death by his father, Carlos Alberto Chavez. Samuel is survived by his mother, Rose Marie Chavez; his beloved spouse of 27 years, Yvonne Chavez; his sons, Carlos Chavez and Mario Chavez; his daughter, Jade Chavez; his brother, Mario Chavez; and his sister, Melissa Salas (Ruben).
