Samuel Steven Lara Sr., 65 passed away suddenly on March 05, 2022. Sam was born and raised in El Paso, TX to Mauro Edmundo Lara Sr. and Esther Maria Lara. Sam graduated from Andress High School C/O 1975. He then left to Serve in the United States Navy for 8 years. He then lived in San Diego, CA and studied at San Diego Mesa College. He raised his five children while working as an Aircraft Ordinance Mechanic at North Island Naval Base. He then retired as an Ordinance Aircraft Leader in 2013. Then he relocated back to El Paso, Texas. There he enjoyed his hobbies spending time working on his cars in his Garage and collecting his coins and $2 bills. He was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, father-in-law, uncle, and cousin. Sam is survived by his five children Brianna Marie Lara (Husband Rafael Cupeles), Carrie Amanda Payton (Husband Jason Payton), Samuel Steven Lara Jr., Ashley Lara Medina (Husband Roger Medina III), Samantha Esther Jimenez (Husband Juan Jimenez), surviving granddaughters Bianca Mariah Cupeles, Kalianey Leila Lara Payton, Audrina Marie Payton, Esli Ilean Jimenez, Rosalie Luna Medina; Lilianna Estrella Medina. Aside from being survived from his 5 children and 6 granddaughters, Sam is survived by his mother Esther Maria Lara, 7 brothers and 1 sister; Mauro Edmundo Lara Jr., Jose Luis Lara, Patricia Ann Sandoval, Albert Hugo Lara, Michael Edward Lara, Victor Manuel Lara, George Ariel Lara, Gilbert Edgar Lara; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Sam was a humble caring, selfless man, a beautiful giving soul. Someone you can always count on and who always showed up for everyone. Sam loved spending time quality time with family and friends, which he will cherish the most. He loved to Dance to the beat of the drum every chance he got. He instilled lifelong family values in each of his children and son in laws which we will carry with us forever. Our Daddy will be missed tremendously and will forever and always remain in our Hearts and everything that we do. Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 8:00pm with a Rosary at 6:00pm on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive. Funeral Mass will begin at 9:30am at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 10000 Pheasant, on Friday, March 24, 2022, Committal Service to follow at 11:00am at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Navy Honors.
