Santiago H. Carrillo

July 25, 1923 — October 7, 2013

Santiago H. Carrillo, 90, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2013 in his home surrounded by his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Maurilia R. Carrillo and his son Santiago “Jimmy” Carrillo. He served during World War II and was fiercely loyal to his country. Our grandfather taught us the value of life: respect others, always help those in need, worry less, love unconditionally and always persevere. He is known for his quiet demeanor and his witty sense of humor. Our grandfather touched the hearts of many and will truly be missed. He is survived by his grandchildren Monica Carrillo (Cristina Enriquez), Adam Carrillo, Valerie Chamberlain (Jonathon). His sister Elvira Lopez and his two brothers Alfredo and Leo Carrillo. He was also loved by many nieces and nephews. Thank you grandpa for always watching over us and for being a father figure and role model. We are forever in your debt. Thank you to all the family and friends that stood by our side and supported us through this difficult time. Special thanks to La Mariposa Hospice for their care and compassion. Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home East, Tuesday October 15 from 11:00am – 1:00pm, with graveside service to follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery at 2:00pm.
