On November 3, 2016, Santos Figueroa-Cruz, 84, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family. Born in Canovanos, Puerto Rico he was one of seven children. He was the loving husband to Rosa for over 59 years.
He served his Country for more than 22 years in the United States Army. He retired as a Sergeant First Class and was highly decorated with many medals and achievements. He went on to work at the Federal Reserves Bank. He was an active member of Most Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church. He helped the needy and our disabled veterans.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and always provided for his family. For all who knew him best knew he was unselfish and always thought of his family and others. If you were lucky enough to have met him, you were greeted with a smile and friendly demeanor.
He always stayed busy when not working. He was well heard saying, “Don’t Wait till tomorrow what you can do today.” His hobbies included repairing old VW Beetles, collecting coins, fishing and camping with family and friends. He was always eager to teach his children and grandchildren of the outdoors and fishing. As his children were growing up he was also involved in scouting. Even though he lived in the desert, he was raised on the Island of Puerto Rico and loved the ocean immensely.
He lived a full life and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rosa; brother, Isaias; sister, Dionisia; three children: Edgardo Figueroa, Arnaldo Figueroa and Katherine Medina; daughter-in-law, Tonya Figueroa; son-in-law, Marco Medina; ten grandchildren: Eddie Brian, Crystal, Christopher, Jeremy, Zachary, Marco Jr., Joseph, Isabella, Gabriel and Mariam and numerous nieces and nephews.
