Sawaar Simmons

On April 7, 2026 loving husband, father and grandfather, Sawaar Simmons passed away at the age of 73. Sawaar retired after 20 years from the U.S. Army and several years with the U.S. Postal Service. he is preceded in death by his parents Edna Brown and Francis Simmons. He is survived by his wife Marilyn Simmons, two children Sawaar Simmons and Marquita Green and his two siblings Elizabeth Simmons and Emilious Simmons. In addition, survived by many friends and extended family to cherish and honor his memory. He will be missed immensely.

A gathering to honor his life will take place on April 20, 2026, beginning with visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Homes - Northeast, located at 4631 Hondo Pass, El Paso, Texas 79904. This will be followed by a prayer service held at the same location from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM, providing a moment for reflection and communal support.

Additional proceedings will continue from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, also at Sunset Funeral Homes, before moving to Fort Bliss National Cemetery for the graveside service at 1:30 PM. The cemetery is situated at 5200 Fred Wilson Avenue in El Paso, Texas 79906, where final respects will be paid until 2:00 PM.
