Sherley Ann Rivera, 77, peacefully went home to the Lord on April 27th, surrounded by family. Cherished wife, mom, mama, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, she will be missed. She was born on July 29, 1948 to George and Elaine Buckingham in Santo, Tx. She graduated from Capitan High School in 1966 and went on to marry Jerry Tallmon in 1968. They had 3 beautiful children, Roy, Karen and Dennis. She spent the first years of her adult life as a mom and a homemaker, later she went on to have a long career in retail. She worked at Ben Franklin, Crafts Etc, Winns and eventually for Party World for many years. In 2002, she married Dennis Rivera and they enjoyed 24 years together.
Sherley leaves behind many keepsakes as she loved to crochet, sew, paint, make wreaths, garden, and create many beautiful things with her talents. She donated many beautiful blankets to the elderly across the northeast. She loved cooking holiday meals and baking treats of all kinds, especially Christmas cookies, a passion she shared with her kids and grandchildren. Most of all, Sherley leaves behind a legacy of kindness, a love for God and her family, and a die-hard faith in the Dallas Cowboys. Her passionate ways and heart of gold impacted many people throughout the years.
Sherley loved life and was a strong fighter who battled cancer for 15 years. She remained positive and put her trust in the Lord. She will be missed, but her memory will remain in our hearts forever.
