Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Holocaust Survivor, and Entrepreneur
Simon Bir, 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Simon’s presence brought warmth, strength, and love to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A longtime business owner and entrepreneur, Simon was instrumental in bringing the first Arby’s franchise to El Paso, leaving a lasting mark on the local business community. His dedication, vision, and work ethic inspired many.
Simon was a Holocaust survivor whose resilience and courage defined a life of strength and perseverance. He was a longtime and cherished member of Congregation Temple Mt. Sinai, where he found spiritual community and enduring friendships.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Rachel Bir and Samuel Shabatai Bir, and his dear brothers, Abraham and Morris Bir.
Simon is survived by his loving wife, Grace N. Bir, and many extended family members who will carry his memory forward with love and gratitude.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at Temple Mt. Sinai, 4408 N. Stanton St., with interment to follow at Mt. Sinai Cemetery, 3915 Gateway West.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home–West.
Simon’s life was a testament to perseverance, love, and service. May his memory be a blessing.
