Socorro M. Carrillo

Socorro Mata Carrillo passed away peacefully to be with our Lord on Jan. 28, 2013 surrounded by family and friends. She was born 87 years ago in Parral, Chihuahua. Preceded in death by parents Jesus Mata, Mercedes Gomez, husband Andres Carrillo, daughter and son-in-law Ray and Sukie Padilla. Survived by her son Marc Carrillo and daughter-in-law Rosie; Adopted children Jesus and Fernando Carrillo, Gaby Munoz; sister Alicia Rios, and brother Jesus Gomez; grandchildren Jessica Gorbet, Cecilia Schlesinger, Erica and Alyssa Carrillo; great-grandchildren Mia, Juliana, Aria, and Harmony and extended family. Known lovingly as “Cocito”, she was a caring, thoughtful, and unselfish woman always thinking of others before herself. Grounded by her faith, a devout Catholic, contributed to her many attributes that were admired by many. She was a homemaker but blessed with the gifts of sewing, cooking, but most of all baking. Whether she was creating a delicious wedding cake for family or friends, or any pastry imaginable, none where more famous than her scrumptious “cookies”. No one could duplicate the secret recipe due to the fact she made them with so much love. She was loved and will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing her. The family would like to thank Elizabeth’s Foster Home, Odyssey Hospice, Narsi, and our 2 angels Maria Salas and Eric Lemaitre for their compassionate care. Visitation will be held Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013 from 4-8pm, with a rosary at 6pm at Sunset Funeral Home-West. Mass will be held on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 at 9:30am at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 400 W.
