Steven Samuel Barden

Steven Samuel Barden (age 62), beloved son of Tommy Eugene Barden and Shirley Ann (Née Hollis) Barden and brother of Thomas Eugene Barden (Golden, Colorado), passed away on Monday, Sept. 26, 2022 after prolonged illnesses. 

Steve was born in El Paso, Texas on October 8, 1959. He graduated from Eastwood High School and Sul Ross State University. He was a high school math teacher in several El Paso area school districts. He also served as a football coach and volunteer youth coordinator throughout much of his life. Steve married Betty Rutledge and was the father to Steven Samuel and Stormy Angeline Barden. 

Steve was an avid sports fan and closely followed Cathedral High School, The Pittsburg Steelers, and anything related to the University of Alabama. Steve is survived by his parents, his children, one grandchild, his brother, one niece, two nephews, and many long-time and dear friends. 

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 6:00 PM, Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Homes - East, 750 N. Carolina. Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, Oct 6, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Evergreen East Cemetery, 12400 Montana Ave.
