VIRGINIA C. DOMINGUEZ passed away in her home on Saturday, March 31, 2018 after more than a decade’s long battle with Alzheimer Disease. Virginia Castañeda was born on March 26, 1944 and was the firstborn daughter of the late Ricardo Castañeda and Ma. Magdalena Davalos de Castañeda. Born in El Paso, Texas, Virginia grew up in Cd. Juarez, MX, and graduated from Loretto Academy. Unable to initially complete her university studies because of the untimely death of her father, Virginia worked to help support her mother and three siblings before returning to school and graduating from the University of Texas El Paso. Those who knew Virginia remember her wit, compassion, and generosity to strangers. She was an avid reader and was well-travelled, having resided in both Mexico City and San Francisco. In El Paso, Virginia was a bilingual teacher for almost twenty years, primarily at Vilas Elementary School. She worked tirelessly to motivate her students and provided unconditional love and support for each and every one. Although the disease slowly robbed Virginia of her voice and memory, it could never rob her of her loving nature, on display every day as she battled her disease with a bright smile and a quiet dignity. Even in her last days, Virginia never stopped providing strength and comfort to her family and friends through her presence. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her loving husband Arturo Dominguez, her cherished sons, the Arturitos: Arturo Ricardo Dominguez (Katherine Polzer) of Dallas, Texas, Octavio Arturo Dominguez of El Paso, Texas, Javier Arturo Dominguez (Magda Herrera) of Houston, Texas, her grandson Marcelo Dominguez, and her siblings: sister Aurora Avila, and brothers Eduardo and Ricardo Castañeda. Holy Rosary will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 7:00PM at Sunset Funeral Home-West. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 10:00AM at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Siendo ella la primera hija del señor Ricardo Castañeda y la Sra. Magdalena Davalos de Castañeda. Nacida en El Paso, Texas, Virginia creció en Cd. Juárez, Chih. MX y graduó de Loretto Academy. Sin poder terminar sus estudios universitarios debido a la desafortunada y prematura muerte de su padre, Virginia empezó a trabajar para mantener a su madre y sus tres hermanos antes de regresar a sus estudios y graduarse de la Universidad de Texas en El Paso. Aquellos que conocieron a Virginia la recuerdan como una persona con compasión y generosidad. Ella fue una persona que le gustaba leer y viajar, habiendo vivido en la Ciudad de México y en San Francisco CA. En El Paso TX., Virginia fue maestra bilingüe por más de 20 años; principalmente en la escuela Primaria Vilas. Trabajo arduamente para motivar a sus estudiantes y proporcionar amor y apoyo a todos en cada uno de ellos. A pesar de que su enfermedad poco a poco fue robando su voz y su memoria, nunca pudo robar su amor por la vida y lo demostró cada día en su lucha contra su enfermedad con una sonrisa y dignidad. Aun en sus últimos días Virginia nunca dejo de demostrar fuerza y comodidad a su familia y amigos por medio de su presencia. Virginia fue una esposa, madre, abuela, hermana, tía y amiga amorosa y será muy extrañada. A ella le sobreviven: Su esposo Arturo Domínguez, sus amados hijos, Los Arturitos: Arturo Ricardo Domínguez (Katherine Polzer) de Dallas Texas, Octavio Arturo Domínguez de El Paso, Texas, Javier Arturo Domínguez (Magda Herrera) de Houston, Texas, Su nieto Marcelo Domínguez, y sus hermanos: Hermana Aurora Ávila y hermanos Eduardo y Ricardo Castañeda. El Santo Rosario se llevará el viernes 6 de abril, 2018 a las 7:00 PM en la funeraria Sunset funeral Home-West. 480 N Resler Dr, El Paso, TX.
