Virginia “Ginny” Lakehomer, 87, wife of the late Herbert Lakehomer, is survived by her son Robert Womack and his wife Lydia Gwandaru. She was a good friend to Mabeth Morland, Elizabeth Kerr, Pat Bryant and others. She was a long time member of PEO, DAR, Military Widows Group, Jolly Elders, and Silver Sneakers exercise class at the YMCA. She was a very good Christian woman and volunteered for many years at the museum at UTEP. She also would hand out flags at immigration ceremonies. She was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church followed by being a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. She participated in all women activities at Highland Presbyterian and also made donations to the Highland Food Cupboard. She was Highland’s representative to Church Women United and also helped when possible to give rides to people in need. She was preceded in death by her best friend/mother Virginia Zollars and a son Huston Womack. She attended Cottey College and received a degree from Texas Tech. She participated in Sandy Gibson’s “around and about tours.” Visitation will be held from 2:00pm to 7:00pm with a Funeral Service at 3:00pm on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Committal Service will be at 9:30am on Monday, March 3, 2014 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers make donations to Grace Presbyterian Church.
