Wanda Kay Moreland, 92,
passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025.
Born in Brice, Texas to Lester and Gladys Messer, Wanda was raised in Fort Worth, Texas. She graduated from Amon Carter-Riverside High School in 1951. Wanda was dedicated to her husband of 38 years, retired Lieutenant Colonel James “Jim” Moreland. They enjoyed traveling and exploring the country in their RV.
Wanda was a member of the Tobin Park United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. She also attended Cielo Vista Church. Wanda most recently lived at Solstice Senior Living, working as an ambassador to welcome residents, plan activities, and share her warmth with all those around her.
Wanda is remembered for her infectious laugh, fabulous style, and love for her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Ronnie Dean Messer, and son-in-law Karl Braswell. Wanda is survived by her sister Glenda Cooper, children Janice Braswell and Michael Alexander, daughter-in-law Ruth Alexander, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Wanda’s celebration of life will be from 11am to 2pm Saturday, August 23, at Sunset Funeral Home, 4631 Hondo Pass.
