Will Edward DeBusk
May 10, 1935 - June 25, 2016
Will Edward DeBusk, also known as Bill to family and friends, passed away on June 25, 2016, at the age of 81, at Kindred Hospital, El Paso, Texas.
Will was born on May 10, 1935 in a small farmhouse in O'Donnell, Texas. (He always wanted to make sure we all knew his first bed was a dresser drawer). He was the oldest son of Roy L. DeBusk and Zada Belle DeBusk. After completing high school in Hobbs, New Mexico, he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from New Mexico State University and a Master of Arts Degree in Public Administration from University of New Mexico. Will worked at White Sands Missile Range for 36 years, serving as Project Engineer for the Hawk and Pershing Missiles, Chief of General Support Projects Branch, and Material Test Directorate.
Will married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Ann Marr, in November, 1960. They raised a family and made their home in El Paso, Texas for 55 years. Will always enjoyed working on cars, tinkering with anything he could break apart and put back together (usually better than it had started), woodworking, and computers (also taking them apart and somehow putting back together so they worked "his" way). He also enjoyed many summer weekends at Caballo Lake with family and friends. After retiring, he became very interested in genealogy and served as past Chairman of the El Paso Historical Commission and past Chairman of the Historical Marker committee, and even spent some time as a Docent at the El Paso History Museum. He spent time working as handyman and official member of "The Men of the Woman's Club" (part of the El Paso Woman's Club).
One of Will's greatest passions became spending time with family and friends at their family cabin in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. He enjoyed four wheeling through the mountains of New Mexico, which he did until a year before his passing.
Will is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara; son Scott DeBusk and wife Marianna of Chaparral, New Mexico; daughter Debra Brown and husband Gene of Round Rock, Texas; grandchildren Valerie DeBusk, Scott DeBusk, Jr., Bennett Brown, Carolina Brown and great grandson Nico Blaize; and sister Sandra Logback of Cypress, Texas. He is
preceded in death by his daughter Sharla Ann, father and mother, and brother Jerry DeBusk.
A Memorial service in his honor will be held Saturday, July 2, 2016, 2:00 P.M. at Trinity First United Methodist Church, 801 N. Mesa Street, El Paso, Texas 79902. Reception following at the El Paso Women's Club.
