William "Bill" Stewart

William “Bill” Stewart, 72, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026.

Early Life

Bill was born in Heidelberg, Germany, on May 8, 1954. As part of a military family, he lived in many places throughout his childhood. Taiwan was remembered as one of his favorite places to have lived. The family eventually settled in El Paso, Texas, where Bill graduated from Irvin High School. During his school years, he enjoyed playing baseball and other sports.

Later Life

Bill was known for marching to the beat of his own drum, and those who loved him wouldn't have wanted him any other way.

Bill worked as a truck driver for many years, but those who knew him understood that work was never what defined him. Without saying a word, Bill's actions taught us that a person could build a life on their own terms while remaining kind, genuine, and true to themselves.

Whether it was his love of music, his unique collections, or his unwavering determination to do things his own way, Bill made life a little more interesting for everyone who knew him. He collected and proudly displayed the things he loved, treasured music of every kind, and amassed a record collection that would be the envy of many modern collectors. Bill also created beautiful works of outsider art using broken pallets, glass, found objects, and anything else he believed belonged in the larger picture.

Family and Friends

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Loretta Stewart, and his stepmother, Jacqueline Stewart.

He is survived by his siblings, Fred Stewart (Kris) of Omaha, Nebraska; Debbie Sand (Darin) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Tina Arrambide (Henry) and Edwin Stewart of El Paso, Texas; along with eight nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind lifelong friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him. Bill will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
