Yani Payides

Yani Payides, age 91, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 22, 2026 in El Paso, Texas. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and will be dearly missed. Yani is preceded in death by his wife; Susana Payides, his parents; Miguel Payides and Dolores De la Puente, and his son; Miguel Payides. He is survived by his daughters; Ugui Payides Shamir (Gus) and Dolores Pacillas (Peter), his sister; Maria Cristina Ramirez, five grandchildren, as well as two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many friends and extended family to cherish and honor his memory. In his final weeks, Yani spent his time doing what he loved: spending quality time with his family. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, wisdom and love, and as a friend to all, he left a lasting impact on his local and church communities.

Yani’s Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, February 09, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home-West with his Trisagion Service to commence at 6:00pm. His Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. Yani’s Graveside Service will follow at 1:00 pm at Evergreen East Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-West, 480 N. Resler Dr.
