Yves Jacques Fortin passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022. He was 90 years old. Jacques, as he was known by family and friends, was born December 11, 1932, in the town of Bedford, Quebec, Canada.
He became an American citizen in 1960 and spent his life in service to his country and the community of El Paso, TX. Jacques had two loves in life… his wife Rosie and cold beer. Growing up on a farm gave him a love of the outdoors; he enjoyed working on DIY projects around his home and could often be found sitting on the patio enjoying a cold beer. He served in the United States Air Force, before joining the El Paso Police Department, retiring in 1987 as a Lieutenant. He went on to become the Chief of Police for the El Paso Independent School District before fully retiring in 1997. He and his wife traveled the world, but mostly enjoyed their trips throughout the United States and Canada in their RV, always making new friends along the way.
Jacques is survived by his sons Scott Joseph and Lance Jacques. As well as his daughter Donna Elaine. He is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Along with his brothers Guy and Ferrier and his sister Lise. Jacques was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Cora as well as his beloved wife Rose Marie and sister Colombe.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home- Americas, 9521 North Loop Dr., El Paso, Texas 79907.
