Zelda Ann Rocha, age 73, entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 14, 2022. She was a wonderful mother, wife, daughter, sister and grandmother and will be greatly missed. Zelda is preceded in death by her loving parents; Morris and Sadie VanCuren
She is survived by her dearest husband; Juan Rocha, her son; James Morrison, her brother; Jerry VanCuren, and her granddaughter; Zelda Morrison. She is also survived by many extended family and friends to cherish and honor her memory.
A Graveside Service will be held at Fort Bliss at 10:30 on October 19, 2022.
Zelda was a member of the Council of Jewish Women participating in the past in many fundraising events. A member of the Kwianas and served as president.
Zelda along with her husband Juan were members of the Marine Embassy Guard Association. They attended reunions all over the US each year. Zelda was famous for hosting the Women’s Luncheons at the reunions with her flair for decorations and little gifts for each woman. Zelda received the Volunteer Service Award from the Marine Embassy Guard Association.
Her love of cooking was a treat when she owned her restaurant Kountry Kitchen for many years. Serving delicious lunches and catering for special occasions.
After selling her restaurant she decided she would share her love of education with young children teaching Pre-k’3 at St. Mark’s Mother’s Day Out and the Jewish Community Center.
When her husband retired, she retired from teaching to help him with mentoring Veterans assigned to them by the Veterans Treatment Court. Helping young couples regain their footing in life by loving each of them.
Zelda participated with her husband on the County Commissioners Advisory Board.
Zelda continued her love of cooking, making jams, jellies and salsa to sell at different events. She was famous for her products and always sold out.
Please join with the family for a reception and luncheon at Monte Vista, activities room. Immediately following the graveside service. 1575 Belvidere.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to B’nai Zion to honor and cherish her memory.
